THE GLORY THAT WAS GOLD
Central City Opera House

Central City Colorado was a mining town with lots of Cousin Jacks and Jennies and this particular book highlights the stone Opera House built in 1878. The need for the opera house came about, in part, due to the influence of those Cousin Jacks. From page one, "Everyone seemed to sing in the Little Kingdom; the choirs were a vital part of the social life, the Cornish mines had a fine chorus, concerts and cantatas were given, and finally came an actual production of the Bohemian Girl, so successful that an opera house became a genuine need.:
This book contains short biographies on every person for whom an Opera house chair was purchased for. Noticed at least one Cornishmen mentioned. Good book if you have connections to Central City.
Hardcover, spine is chipped & fallen away, however binding is still holding in there, inside pages are clean and bright. Because of the spine I'm rating this as a poor-fair condition, can be restored, a scarce title, this is the third edition, published 1936, 5x8, 64 pages, index, $12.00
