LEN HARVEY--PRINCE OF BOXERS
By Gilbert Odd

Len Harvey was born in Cornwall in 1907 and was the greatest boxer Britain produced in the 20th century. He was the holder of three British championships in the same year and from 1920-1942 he fought 20 title fights. Three times he contested a world crown. In over 300 fights he was beaten only 11 times, three of which were highly disputed verdicts.
This is not a boxing book, but a book about a boxer--his talent, his personality, his domestic life, and the uplifting effect he had on his chosen profession. He made boxing what it was intended to be--The noble art of self defense.
He was a sportsman in every sense of the word, he fought cleanly and in full observance of the rules and was never disqualified. Among all the men he fought he never made a single enemy,
This book tells of his great fight against the evils that gripped boxing in his day, he was the perfect gentleman both in and out of the ring.

Hardcover, dust jacket, very good condition, 251 pages, published 1978, 5x8, $20.
